I have had a passion for history from a young age. When learning history at school, I could not understand why the period covering the Wars of the Roses was both confusing and conflicting.
My passion for Richard III began while visiting a museum in York. I was quite saddened at what was on display. There were the usual references to William Shakespeare’s Richard III, as well as a mock trial on Richard’s guilt or innocence regarding the princes in the Tower. While I was looking at the visitor’s book, which looked as though it was filled with graffiti, I heard a small voice claiming ‘I hate Richard’. At that point I knew that I had to research the life of this man.
I live with my partner Graeme in Scotland. He has helped me with trips around Yorkshire and has also helped in the writing of this book. Without his assistance, I do not think this book would have got so far.
